“Kolkata Ki Khushboo”

 “Kolkata Ki Khushboo”

Subhojit Basu ek Bengali writer tha, jiska dil aur dimaag dono stories se bharahua tha. Woh North Kolkata ke ek purane mansion mein rehta tha, jahan har deewar par kahaniyan chipki thi—kabhi kisi purane love letter ke form mein, kabhi kisi chhoti diary ke panne jaise.

Subhojit ka routine simple tha. Subah ek mishti doi aur telebhaja ke saath din ki shuruaat karta, phir apne study room mein baith jaata—typewriter ke saamne. Laptop tha, par use woh “emotional connection” nahi hota tha. Typewriter ki aawaz mein usse apne baba ki yaad aati thi, jo khud ek poet the.

Ek din, jab Subhojit College Street ke ek purane bookshop mein second-hand novels dhoond raha tha, uski nazar ek diary pe padi. Diary purani thi, cover faded, aur andar Bengali mein kisi unknown ladki ki handwriting. Us diary mein ek incomplete kahani thi—ek ladki jo kisi writer ko chhupke follow karti hai, uske kahaniyon mein jeeti hai, par kabhi saamne nahi aati.

Subhojit curious ho gaya.

"Yeh ladki kaun thi? Yeh kahani incomplete kyun hai?"

Usne decide kiya ki woh iss diary ko apni next novel ka base banayega.

Lekin jab usne likhna shuru kiya, ajeeb cheezein hone lagi. Har raat, uske study room mein koi khamoshi se chalne lagta. Typewriter khud se ek line likhta:
“Tumi amake chinbe na, kintu ami tomake bhalobashi.”
(“Tum mujhe nahi jaante, par main tumse pyaar karti hoon.”)

Subhojit pehle toh dara, phir curious ho gaya. Har raat woh us line ke aage kuch likhne ki koshish karta, par agle din woh line erase ho jaati, aur wahi purani line phir type hoti.

Woh samajh gaya—yeh kahani usse likhwai ja rahi hai.

Dheere dheere usne woh novel complete kiya. Title rakha: “The Girl in the Diary.”

Book launch ke din, jab Subhojit stage pe tha, usne ek ladki ko dekha—white saree, bindi, aur wohi aankhen jo usne diary mein imagine ki thi. Woh bas ek pal ke liye dikhi, fir bheed mein kho gayi.

Us raat, typewriter ne likha:

“Thank you. Now I can rest.”

Tab se, Subhojit ne decide kiya—woh sirf wahi kahaniyan likhega jo uske paas aati hain… khud chalke.

Kolkata ki galiyon mein, aaj bhi log kehte hain,
“Basu Babu ki kahaniyaan likhi nahi jaati, woh bas aati hain.”

Dilli Wali Duniya S2

Part 2 (Final Part): Tanhai, Tooti Soch Aur Ek Nayi Shuruaat" — The End with Redemption, Clarity and Peace   Breakup ke baad ek lambe samay tak Aarav ne kisi se baat nahi ki. Phone switch off, coaching mein bas akele rehta. Notes, test series, answer writing — sab mein dob gaya. Pain ne usse discipline sikha diya. Har raat ek hi line sochta: "Zindagi mein har distraction temporary hota hai… par sapne permanent hote hain." 6 mahine baad… UPSC Mains clear. Room ke ek kone mein woh calendar latka tha jisme likha tha – “Final Interview – 5th March” Tanya ka contact delete kiya tha, par dil se nahi gaya tha. Interview se ek din pehle, gate pe ek car rukti hai. Window se Tanya utarti hai — classy as always, lekin aankhon mein guilt tha. “Tum mujhse bina sach jaane door ho gaye Aarav.” Aarav kuch nahi bola, sirf dekhta raha. Tanya aage boli, “Jo tumne dekha tha us din… woh ladka mera cousin tha, jo London se aaya tha surprise dene. Main jaanti hoon, maine tumhe clear nah...
